WHY SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET

Spaying or neutering your pet, which prevents your pet from reproducing, can also help to prevent your best friend from having to go through unnecessary medical illnesses and lead to a longer, healthier life.

In female animals, spaying your pet eliminates pregnancy risk and reduces the risk of several types of cancers (uterine, ovarian, and mammary), protects against bacterial infections, as well as reduces the likelihood of serious and potentially fatal uterine infection that can develop in later years. Spaying involves removing your female pet’s ovaries and uterus. It is a surgical procedure that requires putting the animal under anesthesia. At Mahalo, we follow strict protocols and continue to monitor your pet’s vital signs throughout the procedure to help ensure her absolute safety.

For male animals, neutering – the removal of testicles – helps to reduce or eliminates completely the risk for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as sexually transmitted diseases. It also reduces male dominant and territorial issues associated with puberty. As neutering is a surgical procedure, your pet will be put under anesthesia. As with all veterinary procedures, we follow strict safety protocols. We continually monitor your pet’s vital signs to help guarantee his well-being.

Spaying or neutering does not cause changes in personality, guarding instincts, intelligence, playfulness or affection. It can, however, prevent negative personality and temperament issues such as howling, nervous pacing, roaming, and urine marking.

We can spay and neuter the following pets: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Ferrets, Rats, Chinchillas, Guinea Pigs and other pocket pets.
